Biography

Andrew Johnstone is the head of our Litigation, Insolvency and Restructuring group in the Cayman Islands. As a BVI litigator and Cayman litigator, Andrew specialises in fraud and asset tracing, asset preservation and enforcement, shareholder disputes, contentious trusts and insolvency. He has advanced specialist expertise in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional litigation, including obtaining recognition orders, and all forms of interim relief including disclosure orders, freezing injunctions, anti-suit injunctions and search orders. As a BVI litigator and Cayman litigator, Andrew specialises in fraud and asset tracing, asset preservation and enforcement, shareholder disputes, contentious trusts and insolvency. He has advanced specialist expertise in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional litigation, including obtaining recognition orders, and all forms of interim relief including disclosure orders, freezing injunctions, anti-suit injunctions and search orders.

He is a highly experienced advocate and trial lawyer with a reputation for providing user-friendly and practical advice to listed companies, corporates, hedge funds, professional advisers and high net worth individuals.

Andrew has a wide range of arbitration experience, including acting as advocate and counsel in arbitrations conducted under the rules of most leading arbitral bodies, including ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC and CIETAC.

Andrew was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2004 and has lived and worked in Hong Kong since 2012 before moving to Cayman Islands in September 2022.

Andrew is a regular contributor to theOffshore Litigation Blog and the Take 10 podcast.
